HUNDREDS of jobs are up for grabs as a large-scale County Durham employer gears up for expansion.
The Student Loans Company (SLC) is looking to recruit 200 customer services advisers and student finance assessors for its Darlington offices.
The full and part-time posts are being offered as SLC gets ready to take over its new role in providing a fully-integrated student finance service for students based in England.
The not-for profit organization expects to see staff numbers in Darlington grow to 700 by May next year.
Its national headquarters remains in Glasgow and there is also a facility in Colwyn Bay. Students Loans Company operates in two ways, firstly assessing and issuing loans and grants to more than a million students and then managing the repayments after they have graduated and secured good jobs.
Student Finance England will initially be available for new students applying to enter higher education in the academic year 2009/10.
The service will transform the way student finance is delivered in England and be built around students’ needs.
Many of the jobs in are particularly suited to working mums who have to fit work around their children and school hours.
